I biked at south of Berlin on Sunday. It was overall good but there were some hiccups.
Summary
- Route: Halbe– Storkow (almost) – Königs Wusterhausen
- Distance: 54 km
- Duration: 3.5 hours
- Road condition: 1/3 asphalted bike road, 1/3 dirt, 1/3 asphalt car road
- Logistics:
- Berlin to Halbe: RE7
- Königs Wusterhausen to Berlin: S46 or R7.
- You need to buy a bike ticket for both travels.
- Overall: I wouldn’t do the same route again at least not without a mountain bike. Google Maps put me on a dirt road after Hermsdorfer Mühle.
Route

Notes
- I took RE7 from Ostkreuz Bhf to Halbe. There were a plenty of space for bikes.
- From Halbe to Märkisch Buchholz, the bike road is asphalted and in good condition. There is car roda alongside the bike path but it was very calm.
- From Märkisch Buchholz to Hermsdorfer Mühle, the bike road is still asphalted and goes inside the forest. This was the best part of the ride.
- After Hermsdorfer Mühle, my struggle began. I followed Google Maps and it was a mistake. It put me inside a forest without an asphalted or paved biked road. The road was barely recognizable. The ground was fine sand. Bike tires got stuck. I had to carry my bike back to the another route.
- It would be fun with a mountain bike but I didn’t have one.
- After my desperate attempts, I found a bike road at least not made of sand. It was made of concrete blocks. I couldn’t go faster than 10 km/h because of vibration. Again not fun.
- My friend started biking towards me from Storkow . We met 5 km west of Storkow . We biked together the rest of the ride until Königs Wusterhausen. We mostly rode on the car road as there aren’t designated bike roads.
- We ate in Königs Wusterhausen and took S46 back to Berlin.
- Local people were selling food or used items in front of their houses. It was cute. I regret not stopping and checking out closely.
